Dignity Health Libraries: Mobile Apps

Knowledge-based information provided by Dignity Health Librarians to support patient care, education, research and scholarly pursuits

UpToDate App

UpToDate is an evidence-based, physician-authored clinical decision support resource to help make the point-of-care decisions. The app is free to download, but you must create a personal UpToDate account to log in

  1. Use a hospital computer to create an account.
  2. Download the UpToDate app to your mobile device and use your new personal UpToDate account to sign in to the app.
  3. It is required to log in to your UpToDate account every 90 days using hospital computers to vallidate your affiliation with SJMC. 

Lexicomp App

 For detailed instruction about downloading the App, click  "Mobile Access"

Please note:  Authorization code was updated .  To retrieve the code, click "Mobile Access Code" or ask your librarian. 

Users must activate or renew their mobile subscription using Dignity Health email (@dignityhealth.org). If users previously registered with a personal email, please visit https://www.lexi.com/account/  to update their email address. 

Step 1 - Create Lexicomp Mobile Account and Activate Subscription

  1. Visit http://www.lexi.com/account/create/.
    • Enter your registration information and click Create Account.
      • You must register with your organizational e-mail address.
      • Remember your chosen email address and password used to create this account as you will need these during step 2.
  2. Log into the account you just created; click Log in now.
  3. Enter your Email Address and Password; click Log in.
  4. In the Subscriptions section, locate Add a Subscription by Code.Code Section
  5. Enter the Authorization Code; click Add Subscription.
    • If you receive "The product code is not valid" message, please confirm the code was entered correctly and try again.
    • You may also need to update your email address to your organizational email.
      • Once logged in, click CHANGE EMAIL ADDRESS on the right side of the screen.
      • Enter your organizational email address and click Update.
  6. You will receive an email with a 5-character PIN at your registered email address.
  7. Enter the PIN into the Verify PIN field; Click Verify.
  8. Click Finish.

Step 2 - Mobile App Installation for iPhone, iPad, iPod  OR Android (click for Android)

  1. On your iOS device, tap on the App Store icon and search for Lexicomp.
  2. Select Lexicomp and tap Get or Free, then Install, or the small cloud with a downward arrow, and enter your iTunes password (if prompted) and tap OK.
  3. Open the Lexicomp app on your device.
  4. Enter your email and password and tap Sign In. If you forgot your password, click Forgot Password.
  5. Please read the license agreement and tap Accept.
  6. Select Automatic Update preference: WiFi only or Wifi and Data; Tap Next.
  7. Select your Library content preference: I will select the content sets to install; or Download ALL content sets for me; Tap Get Started.
  8. Select content sets or tap Download ALL.
  9. After the update is complete, tap the Menu button in the top right corner and tap Home.
  10. Select an icon to begin accessing your Lexicomp Mobile App subscription.

Important Notes

  1. Updates may take some time, depending upon the database(s) selected, the connection speed, and the speed of your device's memory.
  2. The Lexicomp Mobile App requires a strong cellular or Wi-Fi signal for installation. The application may transfer a significant amount of data, which could result in charges from your carrier. We recommend you utilize an unlimited data plan or connect to a Wi-Fi network when installing or updating this product. Please contact your carrier for assistance with your data plan or with utilizing a Wi-Fi connection.
  3. The iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad application requires iOS 11.0 or later, an active Apple ID, and 2.0 GB of available space. To verify you have a compatible device, access SETTINGS > GENERAL > ABOUT. If you have an earlier version, please update your device before continuing. If you do not have an iTunes account, please visit: https://support.apple.com/ to create one.

ClinicalKey App

                            If you already have a ClinicalKey account, start from 4. 

  1. Go to the ClinicalKey through the Medical Library Search
  2. Click Register in the top right corner
  3. Use your Dignity Health email to get your account registered
  4. On your mobile device, open the App Store or Google Play
  5. Search for ClinicalKey( for ClinicalKey or ClinicalKey for Nursing) and download.
  6. Enter your ClinicalKey username and password used for remote access and start using the ClinicalKey App

For Remote Access: 

  1. Login to ClinicalKey using the Dignity Health email and password you created when you registered while on a dignity health network
  2. Click on your profile icon in the top right corner and then click on “Remote Access.”
  3. Insert your Dignity Health email to request remote access. 
  4. Select “Dignity Health - Remote Access.” 
  5. Check your Dignity Health email on the same device you intend to access ClinicalKey and there should be an email from ClinicalKey to activate your remote access. You have initiate a separate email and follow this process over again for each device you intend to access ClinicalKey with. 
  6. The link from your email should open up ClinicalKey and give you access to the books and journals

NeoFax App

 Micromedex® NeoFax
Neofax app for iPhone/iTouch and iPad  
  • The IBM Micromedex NeoFax app for Apple and Android devices is included with Micromedex Neofax content subscription.
  • You can access these apps via the App Store (Apple devices), or Google Play® (Android devices).
  • For users who are not current NeoFax customers, the app will be available for a fee.
  • You can activate the app by following the simple instructions below.
    Simple instructions for installation:
Step 1
Visit the App Store from your device and search IBM Micromedex NeoFax.
Step 2
From the App, select download / install the application. You may be prompted to enter your Apple or Google ID.
Step 3
The app will download to your app library, or directly to your device.
Step 4
Open the app. To enter the password, click Micromedex Native Mobile Apps and begin using IBM Micromedex NeoFax. The password is case-sensitive. Please enter it exactly as it appears here.

Pediatrics App

IBM Micromedex® Pediatrics
Pediatrics app for iPhone/iTouch and iPad  
  • The IBM Micromedex Pediatrics app for Apple and Android devices is included with Micromedex Pediatrics content subscription.
  • You can access these apps via the App Store (Apple devices), or Google Play® (Android devices).
  • For users who are not current Pediatrics customers, the app will be available for a fee.
  • You can activate the app by following the simple instructions below.
    Simple instructions for installation:
Step 1
Visit the App Store from your device and search IBM Micromedex Pediatrics.
Step 2
From the App, select download / install the application. You may be prompted to enter your Apple or Google ID.
Step 3
The app will download to your app library, or directly to your device.
Step 4
Open the app. To enter the password, click Micromedex Native Mobile Apps and begin using IBM Micromedex Pediatrics. The password is case-sensitive. Please enter it exactly as it appears here.

Cochrane Library App

 

The Cochrane Library App presents the latest up-to-date evidence from the Cochrane Library in a convenient, easy to navigate format which provides you with relevant, accessible research, when you need it, from the world’s leading experts in evidence-informed health care.

All content in the app is free and new issues will download regularly.

Google Workspace for Mobile

  • Mobile devices such as phones and tablets will need to be enrolled in Workspace ONE MDM in order to access email and other corporate resources.
  • Find important information below to help you register your mobile devices for Mobile Device Management (MDM) to leverage Google Workspace applications. 

JAMA App

  •                             The AMA Connect app provides access to JAMA Network Open and JAMA Podcast. It is available for iPhone and Android phone.

 

  •                             JN Listen is a FREE audio CME app that collects interesting, relevant podcasts based on peer-reviewed articles from JAMA and lets you earn AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ by completing a short quiz. JN Listen is now available for iPhone in the iOS App Store.

Wiley Journal App

                            Access content from your favorite journals with complete issues available on your mobile device from our free mobile apps.

Institutional Access

Dignity Health has access to Wiley Medicine and Nursing Collection without needing to sign in to Wiley Online Library. It is recommended to  complete the following steps:

  • Select 'I already have access'
  • Select 'I use the network at my Workplace or University'
  • Login/Register to Wiley Online Library using the options at the foot of the overlay.

Note: You should be located within your institution’s network to establish mobile access to the licensed content within your app. Your access is authorized for 3 months. Please return to your institution's network and re-login into your app to renew your access before your it expires.

If you are logged in to the app via Wiley Online Library, but still can't access content:

This scenario could happen for two reasons:

  • Your Online Library account isn't correctly associated with your subscription(s). Use one of the methods above to associate your account (see ‘Institutional Access’ or ‘Society Website Access’), then:
    • From within the app, tap ‘Settings’ (the gear icon).
    • Tap ‘Refresh Account.’
  • You are not licensed to view the content.
    • Check with your Institution or Society to inquire about subscribing to the journal.
    • If available, purchase an individual subscription to the journal via Wiley Online Library.
    • If available, purchase a mobile-only subscription to the journal from within the app.
