GME Resources: Medical Students

Now Available!

:St. Joseph’s Medical Center Residency Program has signed a group license agreement with VisualDx!  Please check out your commonspirit email inbox for your credentials from VisualDx- User Name & Temp Password.  SJMC residents are all set to access VisualDX and download the app on your mobile device for pateint care and research!

Do you like to read Journals and Books via your PHONE?

1. Google "OpenAthens" on your phone browser, 2. Click "Log in" (MyAthens) 3. Find your institution -St. Joseph's medical Center (dignity health icon) 4. Sign into OpenAthens. 5. Scroll down to "Click Medical Library Search" in the orange box. 6. Click A-to-Z resource link in the right column to find the journal or books you need. 

SJMC Residency Program has signed a multi-user license with EndNote, which is citation management software. EndNote X9 and 20 are avaiable for your research and publication. If you are interentesed, contact GME research director or medical librarian to get a Product Key to download the software.  Please refer to Rearch Guides  for more inforamtion about citation management tools. 

 

Library Logistics

Welcome to the SJMC Medical Library! located on the main floor of the hospital.  We offer a wealth of clinical resources: online and print. This quiet corner is available 24/7 for medical staff & students and open to all SJMC employees. 

Open: Monday - Friday. 8:00 AM-4:30 PM

After-hours: Badge Access after 4:30pm and Holidays

SJMC Medical Library provides the following service for our learners:

  • Expert Searching - database workthrough or workshop available upon request.
  • Research, Presentation, and publishing support - Literature searches, database/journal selection are provided.
  • Patient education assistance - Mutil-language pateint educational material is delivered to patient area upon request.
  • Article delivery - If the article you need is not available from onsite resources, it is obtained for you via interlibrary loan 
  • Current awareness / Keeping up - eAlert service or Table of content service is offered for the journals you like to follow.
  • Access from home, office, and mobile device - OpenAthens for remoteaccess, mobile apps are available for library resources

All the library computers except one non-networked computer are conncected with two printers-SJMPMDS006 (a big black copier) and SJMPMDS01 (priner in office). SJMPMDS006 is a default priner for public use. Printing is FREE and it is advised not ot go over 10 pages. 

  • DO NOT leave patient records open or behind the printer.
  • Covered Drinks are ok but Food is not allowed.
  • Vibrate cell phones and talk on the phone outside the library
  • DON'T leave your belongings unattended. TAKE them with you when leaving.
  • KEEP the library materials: CHAIRS, office supplies, tools, etc. in their place after using them.
